Justice means not just equal treatment, but corrective action to address historical injustices. The Urban Justice and Governance Lab would champion justice by analyzing, exposing, and reforming institutional practices that perpetuate harm, particularly in majority Black communities.

Innovation means using cutting-edge technology, research, and policy solutions to tackle long-standing urban justice issues. UJGL would use data science, and digital tools to enhance political participation, policy analysis, and community advocacy.

Collaboration is about breaking barriers between academics, activists, policymakers, and technologists to create policy solutions that work for communities. The Urban Justice and Governance Lab would serve as a hub for interdisciplinary problem-solving, bringing together experts from different fields to tackle urban justice challenges.
